Other Characters Currently In-Game: Matt Murdock.
Character Name: Lestat de Lioncourt.
Series: Interview With The Vampire (AMC).
Age: 180.
Warden Justification: There's probably no people better to understand the path of an inmate than someone who was once an inmate themselves. Lestat spent a year as an inmate on the Barge, where he experienced both extremes - as someone seen as dangerous and irredeemable, but also seen by others for his potential to be better. He knows all too well how the changing situations on the Barge (as well as the people) can affect an inmate for both better and worse. That's a unique perspective that only he and his other graduated inmates can hold. His experience is invaluable, particularly if it concerns others in a similar position as him.
Lestat also had the self-awareness to decline becoming a warden when he first graduating, recognizing that it wasn't his time yet to step into such a position. Any other time in his life, he would have been all too glad to step into a position of authority, and yet now he's learned to respect the responsibility a warden holds. He knows that the idea of "bettering" someone comes in many forms, but ultimately the goal is to help an inmate seek self-reflection or find themselves again, not to change them entirely to fit into a box.
Item: A journal.
Abilities/Powers:
Telepathy: Lestat can read people's thoughts, as well as speak to them inside their heads (even while holding a full conversation about something else). He doesn't need to be in the same room or area as the other to make this happen. He can also make other people do things, such as slap themselves repeatedly. IN GAME: Like any good classic vampire, Lestat will need permission (both IC and OOC) to enter someone's mind. He will be unable to control a person's actions unless explicitly stated by the other player.
Hypnotism: What it says on the tin. Lestat can put multiple people (think a full bar) in such a powerful hypnosis at once that it seems time itself stops. IN GAME: In a well-rested state, he can, at best, merely hypnotize to slow the feeling time for a total maximum of 30 real-time seconds. This will cause some fatigue at the effort and he won't be able to repeat the action until he's recovered.
Telekinesis: Lestat possesses certain telekinetic gifts. He can, for example, close and open doors, or unlatch doors (though he won't be able to open occupied cabins).
Vampire Physiology: Being inhuman means Lestat is very strong and very fast.
Healing: Not only does his body just heal itself at an alarming speed, not even being stabbed seems to actually do anything to him. IN GAME: Healing factor will be slowed. While it will still be better than the average human, what may have once taken an hour will take a day or two.
Flying: Or as his dramatic ass likes to call it, "The Cloud Gift."
Wardening Strategies and Philosophies:
Since this isn't Lestat's first rodeo, he'll settle in pretty easily into Barge life. He understands how it works, along with the frequency of floods, breaches, and ports. There might even still be some familiar faces as well, so it really will feel more like a return to a temporary home along with something of a reunion. (Honestly, he's never really had a reason to return anywhere or look forward to seeing people again, so it'll be a bit of a treat.)
When it comes to actively being a warden, there will also be a learning curve for himself, as well. He certainly respects the role of a warden more than he did when he first arrived, and he's had a chance to watch how others wardened their inmates. It's been a long time since Lestat has had to be responsible for anyone else but himself, but the ability is there. In his days before becoming a vampire, he did his best to take care of the people in the village he grew up in, feeling that obligation towards them. That's something he'll hope to find in himself again when it comes to his inmate. And while Lestat's intentions can be brought into question, one thing that can't be faulted is that he feels very deeply for the people he chooses to care about. For example, when he knew it would be a bad idea to turn Claudia to save her life, but Louis had wanted it so badly that Lestat found himself incapable of denying the request. It's not out the realm of possibility that he'll also find himself fond enough of his inmate to want to try to appease them similarly.
Of course, though, Lestat isn't exactly a pushover. He's famously stubborn and has a habit of feeling he's always right. In the early days of being paired, he'll be largely unmoved by any of his inmate's antics. He's been there, he's done that, he knows that shenanigans ultimately get you nowhere on the Barge. If his inmate tries to pull something, there won't be any coddling or recognition for it. After all, when he lashed out, it was largely for attention, and when his own warden refused to cater to his petulance it lost all appeal. Lestat will assume the same motivations. He does not, however, believe in the usual forms of punishment on the Barge. That would actually make him hypocritical, wouldn't it? Much like his own warden did for him, he'll stand up for his inmate and deal with the issues in private, and find what suits his inmate best.
It will be Lestat's hope that his former inmate status will endear him a bit more to his pairing quicker than usual. That, along with the fact that Lestat might not seem like an "ideal" warden, will surely play into his favour. He'll find common ground with his inmate and readily commiserate with grievances. In his own experience, he simply wanted to be seen for what he really was, not what he pretended to be or what others made him out to be. He wants to grant that same courtesy to his inmate. He would like to encourage his inmate when they're on the right path, perhaps offering reassurances at unexpected moment. If he can learn to display some humility and vulnerability, then surely anyone can, and he can help.
For as much as Lestat has a lot of promising traits when it comes to being a warden, it can't be ignored that he is still emotional and impulsive and acts on his whims. This could prove to be a challenge if his inmate happens to push his buttons, or, more likely, if someone is behaving aggressively towards his inmate and he steps in to defend them. Lestat can be wildly successful in this role, but he can also find himself walking the line of demotion if he gets too involved. Still, he likes a challenge, and would welcome any inmate to be paired with him. Inmates that exhibit similar behaviour or histories might be easier to understand, but would push his limits more by being too much like him (see: Claudia). Pairings like that might be a rollercoaster and prove more difficult at the start, but it's not something he'd shy away from. Conversely, inmates that are less stubborn, or those more willing to collaborate, may prove more easy to put on the right path. However, they might also easily feel overwhelmed or micro-managed by Lestat. They also might be less satisfying to Lestat, meaning he might grow somewhat distant or uncaring for them for a brief time before remembering why he's here.
